Still Waiting - Bummer!

The trip to Kincolith has been delayed (slightly) I still don't have a definite date but they contacted me yesterday and confirmed they want me there soon. So I can wait a few more days. The missus walked out of the house yesterday to get into her car and rolled over on her ankle, resulting in a broken bone in her foot. (Ouch!) So after a trip to the hospital and a 4 hour wait in Emergency, they sent her home with some crutches. She's off her foot for 3 weeks. Bum-mer!
Dropped No. 3 daughter off at school early this morning... She's going on a school band trip to Moscow, Idaho for the Jazz festival. I've been there with daughter No. 2 a couple of times; it's a great 4 days of jazz, jazz and more jazz.
I'm getting a massage today after yoga class. Life is good!

Fly Away

I got a call on Friday to go up to Kincolish, a First Nation's village near the Alaskan panhandle. It's through a volunteer agency I belong to. I'll be helping them prepare some grant applications and do some fundraising for the village. It's the first assignment I've had with the organization. Should be interesting. I've been up that way before, just not to this village. It's breathtaking country. I'll be flying in by float plane for 4 days and there should be lots of photo opportunities. I'm really looking forward to the experience!

Tattoo Revisited

It's been a couple of weeks since I got my Mickey Rat tattoo. I finally told my wife about it. "How could she not have noticed?" you ask. Sigh. We've been married over 25 years. Need I say more?

Her reaction wasn't quite what I expected. "You're not serious. It's not real. Someone drew that on you." A mixture of disgust and disbelief.

I got a massage today. (Yes, a Registered massage therapist! No hanky panky...not in their code.) I've been seeing her off and on for years, and I forgot about the tattoo until she rolled back the sheet and started to laugh. "What's this!" "It's a long story..." I replied. She laughed, but really cracked up when I told her my wife's reaction. " It's not the tattoo, it's the fact that you got it without telling your wife!" Oh, foolish man. I love it.

Summer HNT

Me swimming out to my sailboat. (Just around the corner in the next picture) I was anchored at Jedediah Island in the Strait of Georgia. The day was hot, the water was awesome!

There's my summer home, floating at anchor!

Hit the Slopes!

I went skiing on Monday. It was bliss! The snow was awesome, the winds were light, and visibility was great.... I skied my ass off!
Beats the heck out of all this rain. There's nothing like zooming down a groomed run on fresh snow. Good for the soul.
The tattoo has still gone unnoticed. Anyone taking bets?

Home again

Been home for 4 days and I can't feel the tattoo. No one knows I have it yet. It's becoming a game. How long before they find out? Restless, irritable and discontent.
Saw Capote today. Good flick, but sad. Suits my mood. Good night.

HNT Tattooed!

My very first HNT.
My very first tattoo.
My first time in Salem.
A lot of firsts!
Here's the evidence. Didn't hardly hurt at all! Only a few teeth marks in my lip.
Thanks to "Addict" and Rob for putting me at ease and making me feel at home. I must say I am very pleased with the results. Have a look for yourself!

Happy Half Nekkid Thursday!

Silver Fox

It’s 3 a.m. Can’t sleep. The same thing happened last night. This is the problem with working too many night shifts in a row. I’m jet-lagged in Sweden.

Last night I woke up at 3 a.m., went to the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, and had a big steak dinner. And then played Blackjack for a couple of hours. It’s amazing how busy a casino like that is in the wee morning hours. A lot of insomniacs staring blankly at slot machines. The tables weren’t all that busy, but there were three or four at my table. After 2 hours of watching my $40 stake fluctuate from $5 to $60, I left when I broke even. Free entertainment, I call it.

Tonight I’m at the Creekside bed and breakfast in Salem. Sitting up in an antique bed, laptop on my lap.

Today’s the big day! Tattoo day! When I got into Salem yesterday afternoon, I scoped out Addict’s tattoo shop. When I entered the shop she was on the phone; I recognized her immediately. Of course, she didn’t recognize me. The photo on this blog is me, it is only a year old, but (ask Addict) it sure doesn’t look like me. I’ll let her comment on which “look” is better.

A few posts ago I joked that the nice thing about getting older is that the field of women has opened right up for me. When I said I know a few very hot grandmothers, I wasn’t joking, and after meeting Addict I can add one more to the list! She’s a sweetheart, and her Blog pics don’t do her justice. The lady is hot!

On the age thing: After I left the casino last night I went to the Fife pool for my morning swim. When I approached the young mermaid behind the desk, she squirmed when I asked how much it costs. She blurted out, “This is an awkward question, but do you qualify for the senior’s dicount?” Bitch!

Sigh. OK, I forgive her. My wife likes my silver fox mane. I prefer to call myself the aluminum coyote.

But swimming! I’ve been swimming for awhile; it feels good to do some laps. And yesterday morning, I felt better and stronger than usual. I’m attributing that to the Bikram yoga. I am such a convert now, totally hooked. I even had the missus sign me up for a 20-session package at home, and I can’t wait to get back and indulge.

I’m conscious of Addict looking over my shoulder tonight. She told me that I’m her first Blog tattoo.

Blogland is a wonderful place. I don’t believe in coincidences, either.
